Jesus is Savior

In the Bible, we find that Jesus made some pretty exclusive claims about who He is and how one finds salvation (Acts 4:12). But, He also made inclusive claims by extending the invitation to come and receive salvation to all who will confess and repent (John 3:16, Romans 10: 9-10, 13). We find in the scriptures that it is God’s desire for all who are separated from Him by sin to have this broken relationship restored through His son Jesus.

Jesus offers salvation that leads to repentance.

However, we must come to Christ on His terms not ours. Repentance is a turning away from sin and turning toward Christ. Repentance is our response to receiving genuine forgiveness (Luke 15:11-32). We are saved by His grace which God initiates through the Holy Spirit; the opportunity for us to be saved. There is nothing we can do to work for it or earn it. Grace is a free gift that must be received. (Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8-9)

Jesus is the substitution and propitiation.

There is a great divide between God and man because of sin. The Bible states that "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). Because of God's unyielding love for us, Jesus came and took our place (Romans 3:23-25), our deserved punishment (eternal separation from God) and through His death on the cross, satisfied the consequences of sin on our behalf. He substituted Himself in place of all who believe. That is who Jesus is, both the Lion and the Lamb; a suffering servant and a glorious king.
